Westcountry Schools Trust
The Learning Institute is part of Westcountry Schools Trust (WeST).
WeST was originally formed as a small, two-school Multi Academy Trust (MAT) in 2011, and has now grown in size to include several primary and secondary schools in East Cornwall, Plymouth and Devon. The Learning Institute joined WeST in 2016.

Additional partners
The Learning Institute works in partnership with a range of organisations across the education, children's services and health sectors.
Through our Erasmus+ work and partnership with British Council we aim to:
(a) promote cultural relationships and the understanding of different cultures between people and peoples of the United Kingdom and other countries;
(b) promote a wider knowledge of the United Kingdom;
(c) develop a wider knowledge of the English language;
(d) encourage cultural, scientific, technological and other educational cooperation between the United Kingdom and other countries; or
(e) otherwise promote the advancement of education
This is done through partnerships with Devon Virtual UK School, Devon and Cornwall Police and our partners in Spain, Italy and Sweden.
The Learning Institute have worked on a number of projects, both liaising and in partnership, with Devon and Cornwall Police. We supported the relaunch and roll out of training for key adults in schools in conjunction with the charity Operation Encompass.
Devon and Cornwall Police are a current partner in our Erasmus+ Project ‘Aces High’. Working together we aim to raise and promote understanding of toxic stress and better understand the impact of inter-professional working particularly between education, police, local authorities and other children’s services on children facing adversity.
Devon Virtual School is a current partner in our Erasmus+ Project ‘Aces High’. The Virtual School supports all children in care who are living in Devon or who are looked after by Devon but living in another part of the country. Their aim is to promote high aspirations and excellent educational outcomes.
We are the beneficiary of €290,000 grant from Erasmus+. The Learning Institute are the Lead Partner for ‘Aces High’, a project focussing on toxic stress and inter-professional working, in partnership with schools, local authorities and other public sector children’s service organisations.
